About the Forum
As the options for philanthropic platforms proliferate, the potential for tax and legal foot-faults grows as well. Brad Bedingfield will provide an overview of current trends and developments with respect to philanthropic and social welfare vehicles, including foundations, DAFs, public charities, social welfare organizations, philanthropic LLCs, and foreign charitable vehicles. Brad will also provide examples showing how use of multiple platforms in conjunction can allow clients to have impact beyond what traditional charitable structures can provide.

About our Presenter
Brad Bedingfield
Brad Bedingield is Chair of the Nonprofit Group at Hemenway & Barnes. He is a member of the Board of Regents of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), and a frequent speaker on topics related to charitable giving and tax-exempt organizations. Brad has over 20 years of experience in private practice with national firms and previously worked as a tax law specialist with the Exempt Organizations Division of the IRS.
Learning Objectives:
- Learning about the tax and legal considerations related to different philanthropic vehicles.
- Developing an understanding of how different charitable and noncharitable vehicles can further different charitable and noncharitable vehicles can further different philanthropic and social welfare objectives.
- Exploring how these different vehicles can work in coordination as part of an integrated philanthropic plan.
